Activities at Sonas
As well as a range of other beneficial services, Sonas Nursing Homes provide a full activity programme created by our Activities Coordinators. All residents are encouraged to participate in group activities and one on one activities, if they wish. Our experienced activities coordinators create weekly programmes and listen to what residents would like to see on their programmes. This can include day trips and outings, arts and crafts, bingo, computer classes, gardening and exercise classes. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily activities that promote physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
Residents can also attend events and activities of interest in the local community and music events are often held within the home. Residents are actively encourages to tell us about the type of activities they would like to do and group discussions and residents meetings are held to discuss issues like this.
The Activities Coordinator in each of our homes organises a range of group activities based on an assessment of individual residents’ needs and preferences. If residents do not wish to attend, or cannot participate in group activities an individualised programme will be developed and agreed upon.
An activities programme is published weekly and every effort is made to provide a varied and stimulating programme. Relatives or friends of residents are encouraged to participate in activities and indeed to organise them, should they so wish.

Many of our activities coordinators are fully trained in ImaginationGym®. Imagination Gym is based around a series of audio adventures that are designed to stimulate the listener’s imagination. These imagination exercises are audio based and designed to stimulate the listener in multiple ways through smell and touch. The activities are designed to encourage participants in the practice of bringing ideas generated in the imaginative state into the real world in practical activities such as art, drama, music and writing. When participants are coming from a relaxed imaginative state the creative output can be enhanced and responses can improve. For more information about ImaginationGym® see www.imaginationgym.com.
