Nursing Support Workers Day 2023

On Thursday, November 23rd, Sonas Nursing Homes across the country are celebrating National Nursing Support Workers’ Day!

Nursing support workers are the cornerstone of our nursing homes, playing a pivotal role in providing essential care to residents. The term ‘nursing support worker’ encompasses a diverse range of positions within our nursing homes, and each role is integral to maintaining the overall health and well-being of residents.

Whether working alongside nurses or as part of a broader healthcare team, nursing support workers in our nursing homes play a critical role in delivering high-quality care. Their expertise is fundamental to creating a nurturing environment that prioritises the health and comfort of those in their care.

Today is the fourth annual National Nursing Support Workers’ Day and serves as an occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the often-unseen contributions of these individuals to our resident’s across all twelve of our nursing homes.

Seamus Crawley, Executive Director at Sonas Nursing Homes, extends his tribute to the dedication and commitment of our nursing support workers by saying:

“At Sonas Nursing Homes, our mission has always been to maximise the health and wellbeing of our residents, and this is rooted in providing compassionate and personalised care to our residents. It is the nursing support workers who bring this mission to life. From assisting with daily activities to providing crucial support, their skill set is diverse and indispensable.

Throughout my nursing career, I have had the privilege of working alongside exceptional nursing support workers whose expertise, care, and warmth shine, even in challenging circumstances for residents and their families. Today is a wonderful opportunity for the management team to appreciate and celebrate the essential and valuable roles played by nursing support workers’ within our nursing homes.”

John Mangan, Executive Director at Sonas Nursing Homes, also extended his thanks and said:

“Nursing support workers bring a heartwarming level of compassion to their roles. They form deep connections with our residents, offering emotional support during both joyful and challenging times. Their ability to empathise creates a nurturing environment that promotes healing and well-being.

Their commitment is evident in each of our 12 nursing homes and their diligence ensures that every resident receives an exceptional level of care, contributing to the positive reputation and trust our community has built.

As we celebrate National Healthcare Support Workers’ Day, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every nursing support worker at Sonas Nursing Homes. Your contributions do not go unnoticed. You are the driving force behind our success and your dedication and compassion are what makes Sonas feel like home.”

Today, our team and residents across our twelve homes will take a moment to express our appreciation and celebrate the nursing support workers.
